Our journey has begun during the 1970s under the leadership of our father, Cevat Pehlivan, who was a businessman from Rize committed to the development of his country. In those years, Fatih district, the ancient center of ancient Istanbul, where we were born and raised, was going to be the home to our construction business which we still proudly commemorate.
The dynamism of the Black Sea and the unconventionalism of Istanbul were all together in our hearts... Mr. Cevat has quickly made a distinguished name for himself with his successful initiatives and has soon taken his place among city’s major respectable businessmen. In addition to his construction business, to which he included his sons, he also became partners with Koska Halvah at the beginning of the 80s.
At the end of a busy and successful 10 years, we have managed to make Koska one of the most well-known brands in the world. And beginning from the early 90s, we started running our own brand – Pehlivan Halvah. Although we were a new brand, our efforts produced successs in a short time, and made us obtain a respectable place in the market. With that, we turned into a brand that could deliver the quality and the taste of our halva to both domestic as well as foreign markets, such as the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Canada.
Now, as of 2014, completing this quarter-century old journey in the food industry, we have decided to pursue our construction business which we have been continuing for many years now with the brand of HYK Yapi. Today, by bringing together our third generation with our technical team, which has successfully undertaken major projects, we have picked up our work in the light of modern techniques.
As HYK Yapi, we aim to build the future both in our country and all over the world. Just as it was in the past, we are also committed to walking towards greater goals in our new business life today by combining the knowledge and power we get from our experience with our integrity and quality.
